The Rev's posterous

Hello world. I am a tech nerd with an obsession with food. I am going to use this site to share with you some of Jenn and I's awesome kitchen creations as well as new (to me) restaurants we visit. So enjoy, and if you are on a diet, this site might not be for you.

Gooberburger Done The Rev Way

So a few posts ago I wrote about my first goober burger experience at the Wheel Inn.  This past weekend, we decided to make our own, but added our own touches to it, and by that I mean bacon.  I am not going to say if it was better or not, but it was awesome.  I started off with thicker patties.  After they were almost done, I added a generous layer of creamy peanut butter.  I let that melt a little, and then topped with a slice of American cheese.  I wasn't sure what to expect because the one at the Wheel Inn does not have cheese on it.  We then added bacon, lettuce, mayo, and onions to finish it off.  Jenn had a single, and the peanut butter came off a little strong.  I made myself and double and thought it was just right.  The bacon and cheese went really well with it.  I was worried it would taste funky.  We also baked some shoe strings topped with cheese and bacon.  It turned out to be an awesome dinner that wasn’t too healthy, but who cares right?  I was about four cocktails deep when cooking, so I didn’t get any before pictures, but I did get an afterward pic.  Check it out below, and let me know what you think.

My Martha Stewart Moment

There is nothing better then fresh spices.  We like to get ours from the Planters Seed at the City Market.  The problem with those are they come in little bags like below.

So while at Walmart the other day we found these little glass jars for a little over a buck.  Doesnt it make the counter look a lot better?  The Rev thinks so.

Last Friday, Jenn and I decided to take a road trip to Sedalia, MO, so I could try the infamous gooberburger.  If you have never heard of one of these, it is a hamburger with melted peanut butter in the middle, and it is awesome. It tastes like a regular hamburger, but with peanut butter in the middle.  It's one of those things you just have to try for yourself.  Who would have thought that the two would go together so well.  WIth this we also had onion rings and susie q fries.  The onion rings were also very good.  The fries tasted like any other curly fry out there.  Nothing special about them.  Now some of you might be saying "didnt that place close down a few years back?"  No, it didn't.  It just moved up the street maybe half a mile.  I would suggest this place in a heart beat.  I am going to try to recreate this awesomeness in a bun at home.  So stay tuned for that.  In the meantime, here is some burger porn for you.
